Tropik Biomass Power Generation (PIN)

The project will utilize local biomass residues (mainly wood waste) for electricity generation and electricity generated will be partially used by the sawmill and partially sold to the grid.

Project Idea Note (PIN)

    Description:
Fiji’s largest sawmill processes 425,000 tonnes of timber per annum. The resulting wood waste wil be used for electricity generation, replacing diesel oil. Besides avoiding CO2 emissions, the project will reduce CH4 emissions from the aerobic decay of the otherwise unused wood residues. The installed capacity of the project will be 9.3MW. Electricity generation will reach 61,100 MWh per year, of which 42,700 MWh will be sold to the grid and the rest used by the sawmill itself.
